Uses of the preposition "de" for intermediate level A2/B1
Para indicar lugar, localización, o ubicación/ To indicate place, location, or position:
Vivo en el Reino Unido / I live in the United Kingdom.
Estoy en la oficina hasta las 7 /I am in the office until 7 o'clock.
El teléfono está en la mesa / The phone is on the table.
Para indicar tiempo / To indicate time
Mi papá nació en 1955 / My dad was born in 1955.
Mi cumpleaños es en junio / My birthday is in June.
Los carnavales son en febrero / The carnivals are in February.
Para hablar de las estaciones y los meses (solo con el verbo "estar") / To talk about seasons and months (using only the verb "estar"):
¡Finalmente estamos en primavera! / We're finally in spring!
Estamos en marzo y todavía no te has suscrito al gimnasio. ¿Estás seguro de que quieres ir? / It's March and you still haven't subscribed to the gym. Are you sure you want to go?
Me da gripe cuando estamos en invierno /I catch the flu when we're in winter.
(Remember that this only works with "estar". If you use "ser" instead, the preposition won't be necessary, for example: “Todavía no es verano”/ "It's not summer yet".)
